Fighting Wars With War

Aboard the Near-Earth Orbiting Station known as NEOS 1 after a full decade of the most devastating war mankind had ever seen ending The First Age of TriTek, representatives from the United Nations of Earth, Solar Authority, various Nations, Factions of Earth and Colonial frontier-based governments of the The Walking War met to discuss a hopeful end of hostilities.

The Armistice of 2126 created a peace through unifying the multiple factions of the Walking War and under the leadership of the United Nations of Earth in 2128, created the Walking War System of Conflict Resolution.

Recognizing war as a human trait that was unavoidable, the United Nations of Earth sought to regulate and contain warfare and establish a system of conflict resolution as a way to keep larger-scale wars from erupting. Using the system of conflict resolution, disputes and disagreements between adversaries that could lead to violence would be settled in a zone of conflict between teams of six chosen representatives per side and settled in a single 10 minute match.

The Walking War System of Conflict Resolution, or “Walks” as they would become known, began around the clock operation in April of 2128 the first Conflict Zone (of many to come) would be located in North America and donated by members of the Trans Atlantic Military faction farming cooperative named Springfield.

As the first Walks began, rogue elements of the defunct Coalition Defense Force (which were not included in the Armistice of 2126,) would continue to defy the newly-found peace the Armistice established in the form of raids and piracy. Many of the smaller, battle-hardened units would begin organizing with varying levels of size and organization. They would develop into and be commonly known as Clans.

As more Conflict Zones would enter service as Springfield did in dedicated areas from donated territories from different factions, including Yamantau (located in the Ural Mountains), Shenzen (Asia) and Dead_City (Europe). The obstinance of the Clans became the focus of the recently formed United Nations of Earth Defense Force (UNEDF) in a campaign that became to be known as The Clan Wars.

After several devastating campaigns would drag on, in 2139 The Clan Wars would be concluded during a series of Walks featuring battles between the Clans and the UNEDF. The Clan Accords recognized all the surviving Clans, regulations for future development of other Clans which would allowed to join the Walking War System of Conflict Resolution as full-fledged and equal participants.

Finally, widespread peace was established throughout the entire solar system. Earth and all associated Colonies, finally, were at peace after nearly 25 years of war. Disputes and problems that did arise between Nations, Factions, Colonies or Clans would be solved within a Conflict Zone. War would be given its place within a modern society and therefore contained and regulated allowing the Earth valuable time to rebuild and move forward.

Would this peace hold? Would the Walking War System of Conflict Resolution, in fact, stop war by regulating war?
