In 2047, a volatile mix of overpopulation, dwindling resources, patriotism, climate change and religious extremism led to a period of worldwide war including limited exchanges of Nuclear weapons, destruction and despair on a level that humanity had rarely, if ever seen before. It took just sixteen years before the fighting would stop leaving the Earth laid in ruins and on the verge of a full-scale Nuclear War. The remaining governments of Earth came together with the remnants of the United Nations and agreed upon a year-long, world-wide ceasefire for 2048 to study a mysterious scientific discovery near Antarctica called Slakhallet Island that would eventually change everything.
Named after the Island itself, The Slakhallet Codex contained Earth-shattering secrets and new technological processes. The Codex was revealed to be written and left by a now extinct refugee Cybernetic life-form known as the Tr’ktan in the form of writings and pictographs covering the inner-walls and surfaces of a massive temple on the Island and an array of accompanying text. The Tr’ktan left their home-world after an intergalactic war devastated their society and laid waste to their planet. However, several different small groups of Tr’ktan were fortunate to escape and searched for a new homeland.
One of the Tr’ktan groups would eventually make their way to Earth 70,000 years previous where they would leave behind their Codex containing their species technological knowledge for whoever would find it, could use the alien technology to protect themselves from the fate they suffered.
The Tr’ktan knowhow within the Slakhallet Codex would come to be known as TriTeknology. The earliest revelations of the Codex would not only integrate, but further augment existing Earth technology creating the tools as well as hope necessary during the Treaty of 2047 to formally end the war the following year.
The United Nations was reformed into a new organization and renamed called the United Nations of Earth (UNE). The UNE ,headquartered on Slakhallet Island were further entrusted and charged with deciphering, integrating and administrating TriTeknology in rebuilding the Earth for/with humanity. As TriTek Administrators, that also included the creation and coordination of an all volunteer multi-national Coalition Defense Force (CDF) charged to protect mankind from the same (or different) threat that was faced by the Tr’ktan as wellcas humanity itself. The UNE became the sole caretakers of the remaining Nuclear arsenal as well.
The CDF military would eventually become focused on towering robotic war machines. The machines were originally developed for construction purposes to assist in rebuilding, which were originally called Heiwa-Mekkaniks or “Peace-Machines. Later, the robots would becone weaponized and referred to as “Meks” or “Warros” (short for War Robots) that were now armed and could deal devastating destruction with ease.
The Earth prospered during the peace and guidance established by the UNE in a time-period that would became known as The First Age of TriTek. Earth’s cities were rebuilt, older Governments were re-established along side newer ones. Economies prospered as mankind expanded to Earth’s orbit, its moon and beyond. Humanities reach now extended to multiple locations in the Asteroid belt, Mars, Venus including the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.
In 2077 The Solar Authority (SA) was created as a side-by-side organization along with the UNE headquartered in facilities aboard a near Earth Orbital station N.E.O.S 1 which was equipped with a fully-functional Tsilkovsky space elevator. The SA, acting like a space version of the UNE, were tasked with the protection and coordination of the Earth’s various interest and colonied as it expanded into thecosmos. The SA also specialized in space-based Mek Warfare and regularly patrolled the entire Solar System in a constant state of preparedness with a capable fleet of vessels at their command.
The UNE’s leadership directly influenced the prosperity of Mankind during the First Age of Tritek that lasted for nearly seven decades. In 2115 the ghost of humanity began to once again surfaceand haunt the Earth.
Fueled by many of the same problems that powered the terrible dark-times of division before the First Age of TriTek and further complicated by the actions of The Solar Authority as well as the birth of a new worldwide religion based on the Slakhallet Codex known as The Church of TriTeknology, the Earth was growing ever distrustful of each other again,
The Church of TriTek (officially established in 2055) based their religion around a definition of the Tr’ktan society that many viewed as a doomsday religion. The Church of TriTeknology was based around a concept known as an ‘Evolution for Humanity’ where Humanity would combine with TriTeknology into a new immortal Cybernetic life-form resembling that that of the Tr’ktan themselves in a process was known as Transcendence.
Although extremely popular, the Church of TriTeknology was also becoming more and more reclusive and declared a Homeland for itself and began to take an isolationist stance toward many of the Earth’s governments which added to any growing hysteria or paranoia.
